Schwerin Central Station

The railway station features four tracks on two platforms with a grand entrance hall leading to an underground passage connecting all sections.
The initial station from 1847 was replaced by the current building between 1889 and 1890, designed by architect E. Müller in Gründerzeit style.
The station forecourt displays a bronze fountain titled Rettung in Seenot from 1910, created by sculptor Hugo Berwald to represent maritime heritage.
The station serves approximately 12,000 daily passengers with regional connections to Rostock, Wismar, and Ludwigslust, plus ICE services to major German cities.
The station earned the title Bahnhof des Jahres in 2008 following an extensive three-and-a-half-year modernization completed in December 2005.
