Kühlungsborn, Baltic Sea resort in Rostock District, Germany.
Kühlungsborn is a seaside resort on the Baltic Sea in Rostock District, stretching along several kilometers of coastline. The settlement divides into a western and an eastern section with hotels, guesthouses and residential buildings along the beach road.
Three independent coastal settlements merged in 1938 to form a single municipality, creating the present town. Development as a summer retreat began in the late 19th century with the construction of early villas and guesthouses.
The wooden pier serves as a promenade where visitors walk out over the water and look toward the open sea. The beachfront path connects the western and eastern parts of town and is used daily by walkers and cyclists.
The beach is publicly accessible and can be reached through several access points between the streets leading to the water. The beachfront promenade is suitable for walking and cycling, with both town sections connected on foot.
The historic steam railway still runs through the streets and stops at several points right next to the sidewalks. The tracks run in some sections just a few meters from building facades through the residential area.
