Nidda, Administrative town in Wetteraukreis, Germany

Nidda is a town in the Wetteraukreis region, located about 40 kilometers northeast of Frankfurt am Main. The municipality comprises nineteen districts, with Bad-Salzhausen, Borsdorf, and Wallernhausen among the most prominent.

In the late 18th century, families from the area responded to Catherine the Great's invitation and settled in Russia's Volga Region. This migration became a defining moment in the region's history and collective memory.

The town takes its name from the river that runs through it and shapes the local geography. Each of its nineteen districts has developed its own character and local traditions over time.

The town has regular train and bus services to Frankfurt, with departures from early morning through late evening. Plan to use public transport to move between the different districts and explore the wider area.

The river that gives the place its name flows through the town center and creates natural boundaries between several districts. This waterway is more than just a geographical feature—it shapes daily life and how locals experience their neighborhoods.
