Deutsches Currywurst Museum, Food museum in Berlin, Germany.
The Deutsches Currywurst Museum was a food museum in Berlin that explored the preparation and development of currywurst through hands-on exhibits and multimedia installations. Visitors could walk through rooms dedicated to spices, sauce recipes, and the evolution of this sausage dish.
The museum opened in 2009 near Checkpoint Charlie and closed permanently in December 2018. The exhibition honored Herta Heuwer, who invented currywurst in 1949 by combining ketchup with curry powder.
The exhibition space features a spice chamber, audio stations with sausage-themed songs, and a sausage-shaped sofa to demonstrate currywurst's influence on German society.
The museum was centrally located in Berlin near tourist landmarks and easily reached by public transport. After its permanent closure in late 2018, the exhibition space is no longer accessible.
Visitors could experience a virtual currywurst preparation game called Curry Up and follow an interactive sauce trail through multiple sensory stations.
