Westendstrasse 1

Westendstrasse 1 is a postmodern tower rising 208 meters with 53 floors and facades of golden granite. A distinctive steel crown tops the structure, making it immediately recognizable from the Frankfurt skyline.

The tower was built between 1990 and 1993 as a modern office complex for the city. Its completion marked an important moment in the development of the Westend district as a business center.

The building takes its name from the street where it stands and has become a defining feature of the Westend skyline. Its distinctive crown at the top serves as a visual landmark that people use to navigate the neighborhood.

The building contains office spaces across multiple levels and is easily reached via Westendstrasse. The area is well served by public transit, with various entrance areas at the base.

A large sculpture called Inverted Collar and Tie stands at the entrance, created by artists Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. This playful artwork surprises visitors with its humorous take on a everyday necktie.
