Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle, Multi-purpose arena and velodrome in Stuttgart, Germany
The Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle is a multi-purpose hall with a cycling track in Stuttgart and offers space for up to 15500 spectators at various events. The oval wooden track inside measures 250 meters in length and enables national and international cycling competitions.
The hall was inaugurated in September 1983 and was originally intended to serve as a sports arena for world championships. Extensive modernization work took place between 2005 and 2006 to raise the technical standard.
The building carries the name of a former employers' association president since 1983 and serves as home for tennis tournaments and international gymnastics meets. Basketball games from the German league take place here regularly and draw a local crowd.
The hall sits on Mercedesstraße 69 and can be reached by public transport or car. Seating can be adjusted depending on the event and allows for both concerts and trade fairs.
The wooden track is considered one of the fastest indoor cycling circuits and has been selected multiple times for international championships. During concerts the track is protected with a special floor covering.
