Hoffenheim, Village district of Sinsheim, Germany
Hoffenheim is a district of Sinsheim in Baden-Württemberg, located roughly three kilometers west of the town center and surrounded by gentle hills and fields. The place sits within the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region and is framed by smaller hamlets and forests that lend the landscape a quiet character.
The village was mentioned in the Lorsch Codex in the year 773 as Hovaheim and remained a small farming settlement for centuries. Incorporation into Sinsheim took place in the 20th century, making it easier to access urban infrastructure.
The name comes from the Old High German Hovaheim, pointing to an early settlement. Half-timbered houses line narrow lanes and give the district a rural character that you can still sense when walking through the streets today.
Regional bus lines connect the district with Sinsheim and neighboring communities, so you can arrive without a car. For walks, the paths along the fields are a good choice and are easy to navigate in dry weather.
The small district became internationally known through the football club TSG 1899, which plays in the Bundesliga. The club uses the village name even beyond its home and thus connects a rural village with German professional football.
