Heini Klopfer Ski Jump, Ski flying hill in Oberstdorf, Germany
The Heini Klopfer Ski Jump is a flying hill in Oberstdorf with a 70 meter (230 foot) high tower and landing slope in the Stillachtal valley. The structure has been recently upgraded and allows flights extending beyond 200 meters (650 feet).
The ski jump opened in 1950 as the first permanent flying hill structure and played a key role in developing ski flying. The first World Flying Week competition jump reached 124 meters (405 feet) and marked an important milestone.
The venue is named after a local ski jumper and becomes a gathering place during World Cup events and flying weeks. The passion for this sport continues to shape life in the valley today.
An inclined elevator carries visitors to an observation platform with good views of the jump facility. Tours are regularly offered to help you understand the venue and learn about the mechanics behind the sport.
A virtual reality experience lets visitors feel the flight motions from a jumper's perspective using real competition data. This technology recreates the actual flight path with accuracy based on recorded performances.
