Brenz Castle, Renaissance castle in Sontheim an der Brenz, Germany

Brenz Castle is a Renaissance castle in the Brenz an der Brenz district of Sontheim, built between 1667 and 1672 under Duchess Dowager Juliane. Its north, west and south wings enclose a courtyard, and the south wing entrance bears a date of 1672. The Knights' Hall (Rittersaal) was completed around 1674.

The castle was founded in medieval times but suffered severe destruction during the Thirty Years' War. It was rebuilt in 1672 on its original foundations under ducal direction.

The castle houses a regional museum displaying local artifacts and fossils collected over generations. These objects tell the story of how people lived in this area and what natural treasures the land holds.

The Knights' Hall served many purposes after 1848: grain store, carpenter's workshop, gymnasium and, from 1893, interim church, before it became a museum room in 1925. Its Baroque portal was repainted in 1931 by Heinrich Eberhard.
