Schloss Burgberg, Medieval castle in Giengen an der Brenz, Germany

The castle consists of two four-story buildings with saddle roofs, positioned opposite each other and connected by a narrow interior courtyard.

First documented in 1425 as Burgbergk, the castle was destroyed in 1630 during the Thirty Years' War and rebuilt in 1664 by Count Joachim von Grafeneck.

Maria von Linden, who was born at Schloss Burgberg in 1869, made history by becoming the first woman to receive a professorship title in Germany.

The castle remains in private ownership under the Badmann family since 1963 and does not offer public access or guided tours.

The castle features remnants of ancient fortifications with irregular quadrilateral walls measuring 1.5 meters thick and shield walls of 2.0 meters thickness.
