Eselsburger Tal, Nature reserve in Baden-Württemberg, Germany
The Brenz River meanders through a narrow valley, creating limestone formations including the prominent Stone Maidens rock structures along its course.
The area received protected status in 1983 to preserve its geological features and maintain habitats for numerous plant and animal species.
The reserve contains the ruins of Bindstein Castle, first documented in 1171, and the former Benedictine Abbey of Anhausen from 1125.
The reserve offers hiking trails, cycling paths, and climbing routes, with seasonal restrictions in place to protect sensitive wildlife areas.
The Stone Maidens rock formation stands as the most recognized natural landmark, rising from the valley floor as tall limestone pillars.
