The Frankenwarte is a 44.5-metre observation tower on the Nikolausberg above Würzburg, built from 1893 and opened in 1894 by the Verschönerungsverein Würzburg. A staircase of 173 steps leads to the viewing platform; without the weather vane at its top the tower measures 37.5 metres.

The tower was constructed in the 19th century and demonstrates the building methods of that era. As a protected monument under Bavarian heritage law, it stands as a record of engineering skills from that period.

The tower was built by the Verschönerungsverein Würzburg, a civic beautification association, with donations from the city's residents; construction began in 1893. Money left over after the build paid for the green space laid out around the tower, which the association also maintained on land willed to it.

The tower is accessible via marked hiking paths through the surrounding nature, with several routes offering different difficulty levels. Climbing to the viewing platform allows photography and sightseeing in all directions.

From the platform on clear days, details of vineyards and fields stretching toward the horizon become visible. This distant view was a particularly valued feature when such observation points were built in the 19th century.
