Bahnbetriebswerk München Ost was a large railway maintenance facility in Berg am Laim with extensive hall structures and 18 tracks for servicing locomotives. The installation was dismantled between 2011 and 2012, and the site was later transformed into a public landscape park.
The railway maintenance depot was founded in 1880 near Rosenheimer Street and relocated to Berg am Laim in 1924 after Munich East railway station was expanded. This move reflected the growing needs of the city's rail network during that period.
