Wilmersdorf power station, Thermal power station in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Germany.
The Wilmersdorf power station was a gas-fired facility in Berlin's Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district with three separate operational blocks. Each block operated independently with its own turbine system and cooling infrastructure.
Construction began in 1973 and the facility started generating power in 1977. It ceased operations in 2021 after decades of serving the city's energy needs.
The facility received recognition for its architectural design in the 1980s and maintains status as a German cultural heritage monument.
The site is no longer operational and no longer generates electricity. Visitors can view the structure from outside, with its tall chimneys visible from some distance away.
Three chimneys rising to 102 meters tall define the power station and are visible from different parts of Berlin. These distinctive structures made the plant a recognizable landmark on the city's skyline.
