Serengeti Park, Safari park and theme park in Ahlden, Germany
Serengeti Park is a safari and theme park in Ahlden that covers a large area in Lower Saxony. Visitors drive through three separate zones with animals from Africa and other continents, living in wide enclosures.
The park opened in 1974 and quickly grew into one of the largest facilities of its kind in Germany. Over the decades, rides and new animal areas were added, expanding the original safari concept.
The name Serengeti comes from the famous East African savanna and sets the tone for the entire experience. Families drive slowly through open enclosures and watch animals roam freely, often giving children their first close view of giraffes and zebras.
Visitors can drive through the safari areas in their own car or use the provided buses, with most guests staying between two and four hours. Restaurants and playgrounds are scattered around the site and provide breaks between drives through the animal enclosures.
A mobile app lets guests activate feeding stations while driving and see certain animals in motion. This technology connects the traditional safari experience with modern interaction, without leaving the car.
