St. Peter's Church, Baroque church in Mainz, Germany
St. Peter's Church features a prominent double onion dome tower facade and displays white and gold decorative elements throughout its interior design.
Founded in 944 by Archbishop Frederick, the church underwent reconstruction in 1749 under Archbishop Johann Friedrich Karl von Ostein at its current location.
The interior walls showcase frescoes by Karl Manninger and Hermenegild Peiker, depicting scenes from the life of the Apostle Peter.
The church opens daily from 9:00 to 17:00, offering regular services and maintaining its function as the parish church for St. Peter and St. Emmeran.
The modern celebration altar, created in 1989 by sculptor Gernot Rumpf, incorporates bronze elements representing the fisher of men theme.
