Ludwigstein Castle is a stone fortress on a forested hill overlooking the Werra River. The building combines structures from different centuries and today serves as a youth hostel, archive, and educational center.
The castle was founded in 1415 and underwent significant rebuilding in the 16th century. After World War I, members of the Wandervogel movement acquired it and transformed it into a memorial for fallen soldiers.

The castle offers accommodation for around 180 guests and has meeting rooms for various programs. Be prepared for the hilltop location, which means some walking is needed to reach different parts of the site.
