Tempodrom

The Tempodrom is a multi-purpose hall in Kreuzberg near Potsdamer Platz with a white concrete structure shaped like a tent, offering two performance spaces for a total of 3,900 people. The complex also includes a bistro, office areas, and outdoor sections for guests during the warmer months.

An artist founded this venue in 1980 inside a circus tent near the Berlin Wall, and after several relocations it moved into its current building on Möckernstraße in 2001. The new home was built on the site of the former Anhalter Bahnhof.

This hall takes its name from the Latin words for time and place and welcomes visitors today for snooker tournaments, rock concerts, and circus shows. The round shape recalls the tradition of traveling circus tents and shapes how performers and audiences share the space together.

The address is Möckernstraße 10 to 25 and is easily reached from Möckernbrücke or Anhalter Bahnhof metro stations. Inside you will find a bistro, and during warmer months outdoor seating is also available.

The outer shell is made of white concrete and forms gently curved domes that echo the canopy of a circus tent. Inside, circular seating arrangements bring audiences closer to the stage than rectangular halls typically allow.
