The Brennerei Elmendorf consists of several buildings constructed between 1760 and 1903, featuring castle-like architecture with industrial elements.
Founded in 1689 by Cordt and Margaretha Agnesa Lütgert, the distillery produced spirits for over 300 years until its closure in 2001.
The distillery contributed to the economic growth of Gütersloh through its production of Korn spirits, creating employment and trade opportunities.
The building complex now houses the Markus T eyewear manufacturing facility, while the historic oak barrel remains on display at Isselhorster Kirchplatz.
The facility houses a remarkable oak barrel from 1902, measuring 20,000 liters in capacity, which was exhibited at international trade fairs.
