Bonifatiuskloster

Bonifatiuskloster is a Catholic monastery in Hünfeld featuring a three-nave basilica topped by two towers and designed in the Romanesque style. The church stands out for its richly decorated facades that reflect the architectural design of the complex.

The monastery was founded in 1895 and quickly became an important training center for missionaries in the region. In the 20th century, it went through several major changes, including a period as a hospital and a time of separation from its community.

The church here displays stained glass windows showing the four Evangelists and religious scenes that reflect the spiritual character of the place. These artistic works create a contemplative mood that visitors notice immediately upon entering.

During World War One, the monastery served as a reserve hospital caring for wounded soldiers from the fighting. After the war ended, the building returned to its original purpose and became a place of prayer once again.
