Botanischer Garten Kiel

The Botanical Garden of Kiel is a botanical collection at Kiel University featuring around 14,000 plant species spread across multiple outdoor sections and seven specialized greenhouses. The layout separates plants by climate zones and botanical families, with each greenhouse dedicated to specific growing conditions.

The garden was established in 1669 as a medicinal plant collection to support medical training and began on the grounds of Kiel Castle. It relocated multiple times throughout its history before settling at its present location next to the university.
