Box-Berg

Box-Berg reaches an elevation of 76.8 meters within the diverse landscape of Schleswig-Holstein, featuring forests, meadows, and numerous hiking trails throughout the surroundings.

The mountain formation dates back to the Saale glacial period, approximately 120,000 years ago, when glaciers shaped the current geological structure of the region.

The name originates from the Old German word 'Booksberg', meaning Beech Mountain, reflecting the historical presence of beech trees in the local forest.

The Kurt and Erika Schrobach Foundation maintains the area since 2008, implementing measures for developing natural forest growth and preserving extensive heath areas.

Multiple circular hiking routes connect to Box-Berg, including a 6.78 kilometer trail from Bargfeld, a 14.2 kilometer path from Wiedenborstel, and a 20.1 kilometer route from Hennstedt.
