Dat ole Hus, Rural heritage museum in Aukrug, Germany.

Dat ole Hus is a rural heritage museum housed in a timber-framed building from 1804 in Aukrug. The structure contains traditional furniture, kitchen utensils, and agricultural implements from the 18th and 19th centuries that reveal how farm families lived and worked in this region.

The original thatched cottage from 1700 was rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1804. Edith and Werner Hauschildt converted the building into a museum in 1961 to preserve this way of life for future generations.

The museum displays household items and work tools that were used in the region between 1750 and 1850. The objects tell the story of the family who lived here and how they managed daily tasks, farming, and beekeeping in their rural life.

The museum is open during weekends and public holidays, so plan your visit accordingly. The location is in a rural area and can be reached by car or local transport connections.

The museum has a small cafe that serves fresh waffles topped with red fruit compote. This simple treat offers a pleasant break while exploring the historic spaces.
