Buckower Kleinbahn

Buckower Kleinbahn is a narrow-gauge railway line between Buckow and Müncheberg in Brandenburg that runs through forested countryside. The route covers about 5 kilometers and offers rides on heritage trains that carry visitors through the region today.

The railway was built in 1897 with narrow gauge and was converted to standard gauge in 1930 to serve more passengers. This change made it a more modern line that could transport larger numbers of travelers.

The railway is run by train enthusiasts who maintain the locomotives and carriages with great care. You can see their dedication everywhere in the restored vehicles and the well-kept tracks throughout the site.

Train rides run from April through October on weekends and holidays, with each journey taking about one hour. It is advisable to arrive early as seating is limited and the station offers basic facilities.

The railway operates on its own electrical system that is completely independent from Germany's national power grid, with its own conversion station. This isolation makes it a rare example of a self-sufficient railway power system in Europe.
