Burg Rahden

The fortress consists of outer walls with protruding roof support structures and remains of a former water castle with bastions in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Built in 1296, the castle changed ownership multiple times due to financial difficulties, with families such as von Hoya and von Münchhausen holding temporary custody.

The castle grounds contain marking stones in the park and museum that indicate the original dimensions of 63 by 53 meters of this medieval structure.

The castle ruins stand behind the museum courtyard in the park, with free parking available and no entrance fees or time restrictions for visitors.

The northern section features a building with half-timbered upper floor construction, while a horse house extended along the entire western side of the complex.
