Burg Rosenegg, Medieval hilltop castle ruins in Hegau, Germany.
The castle ruins stand at 538 meters above sea level on a conical hill, featuring substantial remaining walls and a square tower measuring 6.5 meters on each side.
Built around 1200 by the Lords of Twiel, the castle changed ownership to the Lords of Rosenegg in 1250 and later to the Lords of Lupfen in 1335.
The castle grounds include multiple hiking trails and natural education paths that demonstrate the local plants and animals native to the Hegau region.
Visitors can access the site through marked circular hiking routes from the Berggasthof restaurant and parking area, with designated grilling spots available for outdoor meals.
The castle tower walls maintain their original thickness of 1.5 meters, displaying the defensive architecture techniques used in medieval German fortifications.
