Burg Hattenheim, Castle in Hattenheim, Germany.
Burg Hattenheim is a four-story residential tower with stepped gables and tall chimneys standing in the village center between the train station and church. Its medieval structure includes restored halls that reflect the original layout of a noble residence from centuries past.
The tower was built around 1100 and passed to the Langwerth von Simmern family in 1411, who made it their home for approximately 300 years until 1711. After several ownership changes over the centuries, local residents established a community association to care for it in 1979.
The castle serves as a gathering place for village events and celebrations that bring residents together throughout the year. Its historic walls create a focal point where the community marks important occasions and traditions.
The castle opens for public events throughout the year and can be rented for private celebrations and gatherings. The restored interior spaces work well for different kinds of occasions, and the central village location makes it easy to find and access.
The street name Burggraben in the village center recalls the small stream that once flowed around the castle walls as a water-filled moat. This watercourse shaped both the defense and daily life of the fortress for centuries.
