Castle Hollende

Castle Hollende is a medieval fortress ruin positioned on a mountain ridge in Warzenbach. The site features rectangular walls with roughly 28 by 22 meters in base dimensions and notably thick stone construction.

The fortress was built in the early 11th century and served as a seat of power for the Gisonen family. It was destroyed in the middle of the 13th century during regional power struggles.

The ruins show how medieval people used elevated locations to protect and watch over their lands. The preserved foundations reveal what kind of structures were built during that era.

The site is accessible by a marked walking trail starting from the Treisbach community center. The location works well when combined with other local hiking routes in the area.

A massive inner tower with exceptionally thick walls once stood within the fortress, signaling its importance as a military stronghold. This tower showed a layered defensive strategy typical of major medieval installations.
