Burg Hüls, Medieval castle ruins in Krefeld, Germany
The brick water castle features a rectangular layout with a defensive tower and surrounding walls situated on marshy ground.
Archbishop Dietrich of Moers granted permission to Knight Friedrich von Hüls to construct a new castle in 1455 at the marsh side.
The castle tower contains a fireplace room that functions as a marriage ceremony venue for local couples seeking a historical setting.
From April through September, visitors can explore the castle grounds every Sunday without admission fees.
Local volunteers contributed over 16,000 work hours to restore the castle ruins and transform the tower into a modern marriage hall.
