Burg Trechow, Renaissance castle in Kurzen Trechow, Germany.
Burg Trechow is a two-story manor house constructed of granite stone with a hipped roof overhead. The building displays rectangular windows across the main floors and round-arched openings in the mezzanine level.
The building rests on foundations dating to the 12th century but was largely rebuilt in its current form between 1800 and 1814. This reconstruction entirely replaced the earlier medieval structures and created the manor house visible today.
The manor served as a residence for the rural gentry and shaped how this building developed over centuries. This role as a noble family home is still visible in the careful details throughout its interior spaces today.
Visits can be arranged with the owner, who maintains the property as a private residence and can accommodate guests by appointment. Advance notice is necessary to organize a tour of this working family home.
The walls were built using approximately 4000 granite blocks and measure about two meters thick at the base, showing remarkable medieval defensive technique. This heavy construction was typical for fortified buildings of that era and has given the structure exceptional durability.
