Carlshaushöhe, Mountain summit in Harz, Germany

Carlshaushöhe is a mountain in the Harz with an elevation of about 626 meters and densely forested slopes in Saxony-Anhalt. A tower at the summit provides an observation platform with views over the surrounding mountain landscape.

The original Bismarck monument from 1901 was replaced by the current Carlshaus Tower in 1998 following Soviet destruction. This reconstruction marked a revival of the site after decades of decline.

The summit serves as stamp station 51 in the Harzer Wandernadel hiking network, a popular stop for walkers exploring routes across the region and collecting marks.

The climb is relatively straightforward, with stairs leading to the observation platform where you can survey the landscape easily. Good footwear helps on damp ground, especially after rain.

The tower also functions as a broadcast station for the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways, combining visitor access with railroad infrastructure. This dual use is uncommon in the region's mountain landscape.
