Crux

Crux is a church building in Altstadt-Süd that combines medieval architectural elements with modern facilities. The space includes a café of about 70 square meters with large street-facing windows and various areas for gatherings and worship.

The building was extensively renovated after the tower was damaged during subway construction in 2004 and reopened as a youth center in 2009. This transformation allowed for a new purpose while preserving key elements of the original structure.

The building preserves traditional sacred art like medieval statues while blending them with modern design that appeals to younger visitors. You can see how traditional spaces merge with contemporary touches throughout the interior, including seating made from repurposed wooden crates.

The place is designed for young people between 15 and 27 years old and offers various activities in an open, accessible space. The attached café is open to visitors on weekdays and serves as a social gathering point.

The center organizes events where people from different religions come together to exchange ideas and understand each other. These gatherings create a space for dialogue and shared experience beyond traditional worship.
