Dellstedter Birkwildmoor, Protected area in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
The Dellstedter Birkwildmoor spans 620 hectares and consists of two separate raised bog sections, the Nordermoor and Ostermoor, featuring thick peat layers reaching six meters.
The drainage of this moorland began 250 years ago for fuel extraction, and in 1843 merchant Marcus Hartwig Holler purchased 150 hectares for peat and iron extraction.
The reserve earned recognition as Nature Reserve of the Year in Schleswig-Holstein during 2009, emphasizing its role in regional environmental conservation efforts.
Visitors can explore a 4.5-kilometer circular trail through the Nordermoor section, with an observation tower providing views across the moorland landscape.
The area contains specialized plant species including sundew, cotton grass, and marsh lily, while supporting wildlife such as snipe and northern emerald dragonflies.
