German horticultural museum

The German Horticultural Museum sits within the Cyriaksburg fortress in egapark and displays exhibits about plants, cultivation methods, and gardening techniques across about 1000 square meters. The rooms document different aspects of horticulture and plant use through history.

The building first appeared in 1123 as a Benedictine monastery, later became a fortress in the 17th century, and opened as a museum in 1961. This sequence shows how the structure served different purposes across the centuries.

The exhibition shows how people use plants for food, medicine, and gardening, and what role cultivation plays in daily life. Visitors see practical examples of how gardens have long been part of human activities.

Access is through the egapark grounds, which are open throughout the year and make the museum rooms accessible during the garden season. Visitors should explore the site to locate the fortress and museum within the park.
