Village church Bollersdorf, Fieldstone church in Bollersdorf, Germany
The Village Church Bollersdorf is a fieldstone structure with a simple rectangular form, a choir section at its eastern end, and a square tower at the west. The tower features a pointed roof and was rebuilt after fire damage that occurred in the mid-20th century.
The fieldstone structure dates from the 15th or early 16th century when it was first built as the settlement expanded. A western tower was added in 1861, and the building underwent major repairs after experiencing severe fire damage during the mid-20th century.
This church shapes the character of the village and has long served as a meeting place for the Protestant community. Its simple design with thick fieldstone walls reflects the modest building traditions of rural areas from centuries past.
The church is located in the Maerkische Schweiz Nature Park region and is easily accessible from Bollersdorf village. Visitors should dress respectfully and be aware that services and private events may occasionally restrict entry during certain hours.
The church holds a rare Bible from 1618 originally owned by a Saxon Elector that survived a devastating fire in 1945. This precious religious book remains one of the oldest objects preserved within the building today.
