Schloss Ittlingen

Schloss Ittlingen is a two-story Baroque structure with nine symmetrical axes and a hipped roof, dominated by a grand entrance portal with elaborate late Baroque framing. The basement features vaulted ceilings and a substantial portal that clearly marks the transition between older and newer construction phases.

The Freiherren von Gemmingen started building this estate in 1577 with a fortified basement and substantial portal. Over time, the Baroque structure above was added, creating the building that stands today.

The carved coats of arms at the entrance portal show the connections to three noble families who shaped this property over generations. These visible symbols tell the story of how the local elite were linked together.

This castle is privately owned and can only be viewed from outside. Visitors should maintain distance from the building and observe any posted notices regarding the grounds.

The cellar entrance bears inscriptions from 1577 showing when the original fortification was built. These carvings remain legible today and create a direct link to when the estate was first established.
