EFA-Museum für Deutsche Automobilgeschichte, Automobile museum in Amerang, Germany.
The EFA museum displays approximately 70 German automobiles across 2000 square meters (21500 square feet), documenting vehicle development from the early era to modern times. The cars are arranged chronologically to show how technology, comfort, and design changed across the decades.
Ernst Freiberger Senior founded this museum in 1990 as a gift to his hometown, having built success in the ice cream business. The facility grew to become a repository of German automotive history for the region.
The collection reflects how German automotive design and engineering evolved across different decades and social circumstances. Visitors can see how these vehicles shaped everyday life and travel habits in the country.
The museum operates from March through November, open Thursday to Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00. Allow 2 to 3 hours to walk through the exhibition and examine the different types of vehicles at a comfortable pace.
An unusual feature is the large model railway system built in Scale II with around 650 meters (2100 feet) of tracks displaying factory-produced vehicles. This railway display complements the automobile collection in an unexpected way.
