Eichberg Tower, Wooden observation tower in Emmendingen, Germany.
Eichberg Tower is a wooden observation tower on Eichberg mountain that rises 53 meters high with a viewing platform situated above an oak forest. The structure is built from six Douglas fir trunks arranged in a pyramid formation.
Local citizens of Emmendingen formed an association in 1999 to construct the tower, which opened to the public on September 17, 2005. The project emerged from the community's wish to create a new landmark for the region.
The tower serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors meet to take in views of the surrounding landscape. This spot has become a popular spot for social outings and shared moments.
To reach the viewing platform, visitors must climb 240 oak steps arranged in a cylindrical steel stairway. The structure is accessible, though the ascent requires some physical effort.
The structure stands as the tallest observation tower in Baden-Württemberg and offers views of the Black Forest, Swiss Jura, and Vosges Mountains. This far-reaching vista makes it a particularly rewarding destination.
