Elbebrücke Wittenberge

The Elbebrücke Wittenberge is a steel girder bridge that spans across the river and connects the two sides of the town. It carries a double-track railway and includes walkways that provide views of the waterway below.

A river crossing was first built here in the 1800s to enable railway transport across the water. The current structure was completed in the late 1970s as part of a major infrastructure renewal program.

The bridge became a major railway link connecting regions for decades and remains part of the local identity. It shaped how people moved through the landscape and continues to define the view from both riverbanks.

The bridge is accessible on foot with safe pathways for pedestrians to cross. Daytime visits offer the best views and visibility, making it easier to see the structure and the landscape around it.
