Haus Niedernhofen, Former knight's estate in Hagen-Hengstey, Germany.
Located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Haus Niedernhofen stands as a historical structure near the modern Hengsteysee, representing regional architectural heritage.
The estate belonged to the lords of Ovelacker from the mid-13th century until 1716, when the male lineage ended with Arnold Anton Diederich Ovelacker.
The site transformed from a noble residence to an industrial property when Wilhelm Funke acquired it in 1895 and built the structure called Funkenburg.
The location offers parking areas on both sides of the river, with walking paths along the north shore providing access to the historical grounds.
The original castle structure now lies submerged in the Hengsteysee, visible as a dark rectangle approximately 150 meters south of the Koepchenwerk power plant.
