Sender Ravensburg, Communication tower in Illmensee, Germany.
Sender Ravensburg is a broadcast tower in Illmensee, in the southern part of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The site consists of several antenna masts of different heights that together cover the radio and television reception area.
The facility was built in 1969 by the Deutsche Bundespost to provide radio coverage to the region. It was updated over the following decades as broadcasting technology changed.
The tower carries regional television programs such as ZDF and SWR Fernsehen Baden-Württemberg, which many households in the area receive daily. It links this rural part of southern Germany to the national broadcasting network.
The site is an active transmission facility and visitors cannot enter, but the masts are clearly visible from the surrounding countryside. Footpaths and roads nearby offer good angles for viewing the structure from the outside.
The site still has older masts from the 1960s standing alongside more recent equipment. This mix of transmitting structures from different eras is uncommon at facilities of this type.
