Naturtheater Heidenheim

Naturtheater Heidenheim is an open-air theatre with a 2,500 square meter stage, making it the second-largest outdoor performance venue in Baden-Württemberg. The venue sits within natural surroundings and accommodates hundreds of spectators viewing performances from tiered seating.

The theatre was founded in 1924 to unite people through performing arts in the aftermath of World War I. A former sergeant named Gustav Müller established this association as a place for community gathering and creative expression.

The theatre presents classical plays, musicals, and children's productions, with over 400 amateur performers participating in seasonal shows. These community members gather regularly to bring stories to life on stage for audiences throughout the year.

Plan your visit on dry days, as the venue offers no roof cover and performances are weather-dependent. Bring warm clothing and a blanket, as temperatures drop noticeably in the evening hours.

In 1997, the company staged the musical 'Linie 1' at the main train station, incorporating active railway operations into the performance. This unusual production used trains and platforms as integral parts of the theatrical experience.
