The construction of the Orstel flood retention basin started with groundbreaking on July 13, 2006 and completed with inauguration on June 29, 2012.
The facility represents German engineering excellence in water management, incorporating concrete and steel construction techniques to protect surrounding communities.
The basin functions as a dry reservoir with a storage capacity of 4.7 million cubic meters, covering an area of 70 hectares.
Three specially designed passages ensure fish migration through the facility, maintaining the natural flow of aquatic life.
