Glassworks Museum of the Ore Mountains

The Glassworks Museum occupies the former socage vault of Purschenstein Castle, presenting exhibits about regional glass production techniques and tools.

The museum opened in 1996 following renovations, displaying artifacts that document 800 years of glass manufacturing in the Ore Mountains region.

The collection includes painted round panes from 1612 known as The Four Evangelists, created specifically for Purschenstein Castle chapel.

Located at Freiberger Strasse 10, the museum charges an entry fee of 3 euros and features regular demonstrations of traditional glassblowing techniques.

The museum contains a functioning replica of a glass melting furnace from the time of Georgius Agricola, demonstrating historical clear glass production methods.
