Schloss Schlettau

Schloss Schlettau is a medieval castle featuring Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architectural elements in Schlettau, Germany. The complex sits within a park of mature trees and houses exhibition rooms displaying hunting equipment, local artwork, and historical textile machinery.

From 1634 to 1796, the castle served as the main administrative center for Saxon forest management and hunting operations in the upper Erzgebirge region. This extended period of governmental use shaped the area's development and regional importance.

The Rittersaal hosts regular music performances, literature events, and traditional ceremonies throughout the year. This hall serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors experience the area's cultural traditions together.

The castle is accessible on foot from town and sits within a peaceful park setting. Allow time to move through the various exhibition rooms and observe the historical textile workshop at a relaxed pace.

A working historical textile workshop continues to operate at the castle, where visitors can watch century-old machinery produce traditional Posament decorative trims and braids. This living craft demonstrates how such textiles were once central to the local economy and daily life.
