Hochries, Mountain peak in Bavaria, Germany
The Hochries mountain reaches an elevation of 1,569 meters and features a monumental cross at its summit in the Chiemgau Alps range.
The mountain area gained recognition in December 1973 when the owner of an Alpine lodge reported observing an unexplained red light hovering near the peak.
The Hochries region maintains German Alpine traditions through seasonal festivals and events that bring together local communities throughout the calendar year.
Visitors can access the summit via a cable car system from Grainbach village, with an intermediate station positioned at 920 meters above sea level.
