Großes Palais, City palace in Meiningen, Germany
The Großes Palais stands as a three-story structure with a richly articulated facade in French Neo-Renaissance style on Bernhardstraße in central Meiningen.
Built between 1821 and 1823 as a residence for Duchess Luise Eleonore, the palace underwent significant renovations in 1863 under master builder Otto Hoppe.
The interior features marble support columns in the foyer, an ornate staircase leading to the first floor, and elaborate stucco decorations on nearly all walls and ceilings.
The palace currently serves as a health center, housing multiple medical practices and health facilities with modern glass walls and room-in-room systems.
The palace survived World War II without damage and from 1952 to 1999 functioned as the district administration office of Meiningen.
