Gohliser Schlösschen, Rococo castle in Gohlis, Germany
The Gohliser Schlösschen is a Rococo castle in Gohlis near Leipzig with symmetrical orangery wings flanking the main building on both sides. The facade and interior rooms display elaborate Rococo architectural details that define the structure inside and out.
Merchant and city architect Johann Caspar Richter had the castle built starting in 1756, with main construction completed by 1770. The building emerged during a period of prosperous trade in Leipzig that made such elaborate private construction projects possible.
Today the building hosts musical events and celebrations where visitors can experience classical concerts performed in its decorated rooms. The spaces retain their original 18th-century furnishings, which still convey a sense of an earlier era to those who visit.
The castle is located at Menckestraße 230 in Leipzig and offers visitors access through guided tours, concerts, and exhibitions. An on-site restaurant provides a place to relax and enjoy the surroundings, making a visit easy to plan.
The Oesersaal, the main decorated hall of the castle, is used today for weddings and private celebrations while retaining its original 18th-century interior design. Visitors can experience this special event space during certain openings and notice the craftsmanship of an earlier period.
