Weserstein

The Weserstein marks the exact spot where the Werra and Fulda rivers join together to form the Weser. The monument stands beneath a large chestnut tree and bears inscriptions that honor this geographical feature.

The monument was donated in 1899 by Carl Natermann and his son to mark where three rivers meet. A second stone was added in 2000 during EXPO as a companion piece.

The stone carries inscribed verses that emphasize the significance of this meeting point for three rivers, making the importance visible to visitors. The inscriptions tell of the connection between regional waterways and their role for the town.

The stone is accessible throughout the year and sits right by the riverbank, where visitors can easily observe the waterways. During warmer months, boat tours depart nearby, giving you different views of where the three rivers meet.

A second stone with artistic inscriptions by artist Nedko Solakov was added in 2000 and now forms a pair with the original. This modern addition creates an interesting dialogue between historical and contemporary monument.
