Tiergarten Falkenstein, Animal park in Falkenstein, Germany
Tiergarten Falkenstein is an animal park in Saxony with around 200 animals from about 60 species, including brown bears, various primates, prairie dogs, and farm animals. The grounds also include a tropical house with exotic inhabitants such as capuchins and flying foxes.
The park was founded in 1953 as a research station for young scientists and later developed into the present-day animal park. Over the decades it expanded, including the opening of a tropical house in the 1990s.
The zoo gives visitors chances to observe animals up close and learn about how they live. Staff members share knowledge about the different species and their behaviors with interested guests.
The grounds are easily accessible on foot and well marked for visitors of all ages. There is plenty of space for walking, and the paths are mostly flat and straightforward to navigate.
The tropical house is home to some of the park's rarer inhabitants and offers insight into tropical ecosystems. Visitors can observe animals here in a specially created environment that mimics their natural habitat.
